BYD Shark Ute Coming to NZ in Q4 2024

BYD Auto NZ has announced that its first new energy pickup truck is expected to be released within the year. The vehicle will be equipped with the DM-i Super Hybrid off-road platform and is being developed for the global market.

A rival for the top-selling Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux, not to mention a swag of other utes, the BYD Shark will have a key point of differentiation under the bonnet, relying on a plug-in hybrid powertrain rather than a turbo diesel engine.

With BYD’s DM-i technology, the Shark 6 provides a combined range of up to 800km, making it a formidable contender in the dual-cab 4x4 ute market. The vehicle will also include vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, adding versatility for various power needs.

Stay tuned as full details of the BYD Shark should be released shortly.
