The continuing story of Euromarque and Cockram Motor Group…
It could be said that the Cockram family has become something of a legend in the Canterbury motor vehicle business.
Opening in 1989, Euromarque was established by dealer-principal Angus Cockram.
The name will be familiar. Angus is a third generation automotive businessman in Christchurch, with grandfather, Bill and father, Gary being well-known city vehicle retailers, who between them founded the Cockram family’s admirable reputation in the city’s motor vehicle industry.
A lifetime passion for the quality, style and desirability of European vehicles prompted Angus to establish Euromarque. Now, 25 plus years on, the success of that decision is demonstrated by the way the business has more than kept pace with the burgeoning industry.
That business has grown across the inner city block it occupies between the streets of Tuam, Durham and St Asaph streets and now also includes a new address - 122 St Asaph Street. Just a short fifty-metre stroll from its old premises, Euromarque has now matured into a new, modern, European-inspired motor vehicle campus. The campus is set to expand further as new marques join with Euromarque, and the “Cockram Motor Group” - also known as CMG. The brands already involved with Euromarque and CMG now includes: Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Abarth, Maserati, Renault, Hyundai, Isuzu, Great Wall and Foton.
A two-wheeled outlet has also been added to the company’s portfolio, with the US Indian and Victory brands now being afforded their own showroom space under the CMG banner along with budget motorcycle brand, Kymco. A visit to CMG Motorcycles is sure to thrill.
Thus, what began as a fledgling European used vehicle dealership more than a quarter of century ago, is now the leading purveyor of premium, luxury and affordable new and used motor vehicles in Christchurch. The very best and newest of our top luxury and performance offerings are marketed under our respected “Distinction Collezione” banner.
Euromarque has been the authorised dealership for Italy’s exciting and iconic Alfa Romeo and Fiat marques since 2002. They were joined five years later with the establishment of Euromarque as an “Official Maserati Dealership” providing the prestigious Italian performance car company with a natural South Island home and a full service and parts operation for its owners. In 2015, Renault came on board with the French company enjoying a burgeoning revival in its home and international markets.
As can be seen, CMG is evolving to become the dominant South Island automotive retailer. The company’s reputation is now such that it enjoys excellent new, repeat and referral business.
The group's service department, 'Cockram Motor Group Service & Parts' is growing commensurately and is now one of the most reputable, respected and trusted service departments in New Zealand. CMG’s Service and Parts departments expedite most of the South Island’s performance, classic and supercar servicing repairs, having invested in the very best people including specialist technicians, as well as the latest leading edge service technology. As well as Maserati, they are the official factory sanctioned service and parts providers for Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Renault as well as Hyundai, Isuzu, Great Wall and Foton.
